Loooove my fireplace...

In between taking my Mom on shopping sprees to find the best deals in Texas while she's here foe Christmas, I'm spending most of my time off either in front of this or in the kitchen cooking
for the Family, Nana & Ryan are gonna make cookies for the neighbors this morning....and yes....I'm taking a break from training.... I'm going to TRY to do nothing for a whole week!!...:)

I've started my Tri training, working on my weakest sport right now...swimming. I've recruited a coach for this, a good friend of mine Bruce Smith...He's like a freakn dolphin in the water and is basically RE-teaching me to swim efficiently, anyone can learn to swim but using the correct techniques is the key to speed and not killing yourself in the first leg of a Tri....

I went to see my doc on Friday to see whats up with my leg and...well.here ya have it...

A common spot for bursitis is on the side of the hip. Here a large tendon passes over the bony bump on the side of the hip. The bony bump is called the greater trochanter. Inflammation in the bursa between the tendon and the greater trochanter is called trochanteric bursitis. This problem is common in older individuals. It may also occur in younger patients who are extremely active in exercises such as walking, running, or biking. Not something I need 35 days before the White rock...so...I'm resting for one more week to see if it gets better...hope it does, I've trained awful hard to have this take me out of the race...we'll see.....

DRC Half Marathon was tough this past Sunday, I'm having some joint pain due to a heavy training schedule for the white rock marathon and it's taking a toll....so my time wasn't what I was hoping for, about 15min off, official time of 1:58... Finished 1004th out of 3285 and 123rd out of 247 in my age group....

The body does not want you to do this. As you run, it tells you to stop but the mind must be strong. You always go too far for your body. You must handle the pain with strategy .It is not age; it is not diet. It is the will to succeed. Jacqueline Gareau

The Texas Hottest Half marathon

First two miles went great, after that…reality started to set in.
Miles 3-6 legs started to feel like lead and it didn’t get any better.
Miles 7-10 my feet felt like bricks…well, come to find out there was a good reason
For that, as I was running, my shoes were filling up with sweat making them 3Xs heavier .
Miles 10-13.1 where just plane brutal. Thighs started to cramp so at this point it becomes a mental game within yourself. Needless to say I survived and came in at 2.05.59…not my best time by a long shot but I was really just going for completion on this one.

Ryan taking over after I took a seriously HOT bath.
He just COULDN'T waste all those bubbles!

First half of my weekend is over...went very well, fastest time ever! average speed 20.6
tomorrow will be a challenge, I'll know within the first 6 miles if I went to hard on the HHH ride.
